As a nursing student I was assigned to a patient who had a gun shot wound. I went the day before to gather all of my information to begin the care plan and to prepare for the next day to care for this gentleman. When I arrived on the ward the next AM the man was not there. I had a concern that he may have passed away, only to find out that the person who shot him had come up to the ward the night before and attempted to finish him off, but he was caught.
